When dealing with any healing journey, engaging in multi-pronged strategies that focus on physical, emotional, and psychological healing greatly helps bring our body and mind back into balance and well-being. In this workshop you will explore how using metaphor can be a powerful and transformative healing technique. By associating inner experiences with external symbols, you can create a framework for understanding, processing, and ultimately healing.
Metaphors open the doorway to your subconscious and engage your imagination, giving you deeper insight into how you are relating emotionally and psychologically to stressful or traumatic upheaval. Metaphors can provide a sense of meaning and coherence, open up new pathways for emotional and psychological growth and help you see yourself as an active participant in your healing journey.
Each of us can relate to similar stressful events in very different ways. One might see the event as an unwelcome challenge to simply move on from; another may feel like they are “drowning”, “floating untethered”, “trapped” or any number of experiences; another may feel they are being punished or even deserve what happened. All which greatly fuels physical healing and recalibration of our nervous systems.
In this workshop you will draw upon images that reflect your inner experiences of whatever has been stressful or traumatic. Collaged together they can help form the narrative or internal metaphor of your experience. You’ll then explore the meanings revealed in this card using the prompts provided by the facilitator. Lastly, you’ll identify possible pathways toward healing, search your deck for cards that can support you or note new cards that can be made in support of recalibration and well-being.
